Brush Care Help
Taking proper care of your brushes will extend their life, keep bristles in good shape, and ensure better performance every time you use them. A few simple habits can make a big difference. Here are some good tips to keep your brushes well and healthy for a longer time:
-
Rinse immediately after use
Don’t let paint dry in the bristles, this is the #1 cause of damaged brushes.
-
Use lukewarm water
Avoid hot water, as it can loosen the glue that holds the bristles in place.
-
Gently clean with soap if needed
Use mild soap or brush cleaner for acrylics, oils, or heavy paint buildup.
-
Never leave brushes soaking in water
This can bend the bristles and damage the ferrule (the metal part), leading to shedding and misshaping.
-
Rinse from base to tip
Hold the brush with bristles pointing downward and rinse from the ferrule toward the tip to prevent water from seeping into the handle.
-
Reshape bristles after washing
Gently bring the brush back to its original shape with your fingers.
-
Dry flat or bristle-side up
Let brushes air dry completely before storing. Avoid drying them upright while still wet.
-
Store properly
Keep brushes in a dry place, ideally upright or in a container that protects the bristles.
